By now you would probably know that David Babaii for WildAid is a fabulous collaboration between celebrity Hairstylist David Babaii and Kate Hudson. It is a haircare range with a difference, all the ingredients are eco friendly and 10% of proceeds help to support wildlife through the WildAid charity foundation.
Being environmentally friendly is one thing, but a bad hair day can break your soul (ok, slight exaggeration) and you don’t really want to save the animals while sporting frizzy hair. Shampoo and Conditioner are basic hair essentials and it was time to put David Babaii for WildAid’s offerings to the test to see if it really is possible to be kind to both your hair, and to the planet.
To begin with, the bottles are a generous size and come in lovely neutral green and brown tones. I have been using the Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner, which are designed to give flat, thin hair extra body and a magical lift. With an interesting list of ingredients including volcanic ash, blue algae and white ginger you would think they would smell unusual, but the conditioner in particular has a familiar scent – it reminds me of those pink musk lifesavers you eat when you are a child.
So many hair products deceive you into thinking they are helping the texture of your hair by giving it a smooth coating, but these actually dig deep into the follicles for stronger hair. My hair felt quite good after the first few washes, for hair that is a bit dry I would still recommend using a mask once a week.
For the perfect wash David says, “Shampooing your hair properly for added volume is the foundation for all great hair days. And you’ll have lots of them if you use the tips of your fingers to gently and thoroughly massage the shampoo into your scalp. I promise your hair will stay fresh and fuller all day by not activating the oil glands scrubbing often creates. Then, “rinse, rinse, rinse” until you’re ready for my amazing Amplifying Conditioner”.
I am impressed with these products, and they make a good addition to your hair routine. Whether you want to lift your hair sky high, or just add a little bit of extra bounce to your fine hair try the Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner from David Babaii for WildAid.
Update 2021: Unfortunately, David Babaii passed away on 1st September 2021. The cause of death is unknown and he was only in his 40s. Rest in peace, David.
