Interview with INDAH RAW creator Teisha Lowry

Imagine pampering yourself with such luscious, natural and nourishing products. Imagine feeling calm, relaxed and happy knowing that what you’re putting on your skin is safe and raw. This is made possible by Teisha Lowry whom is a model – a local Melbourne model – who has decided to step out of the crowd and create her own beautiful range of skin care products.

You won’t find anything artificial or fake in her indulgent products – only natural goodness with each batch handmade.

I was most lucky to conduct an interview with Teisha which you can read below, I have also been using her divine Raw Asset Healing Hand and Body Balm which you can look forward to reading my review on next week.

Teisha

Congratulations on the new launch of your fabulous brand! First of all, what does the RAW stand for?

Thank you. It has been a labour of love but I am over the moon and very happy with the result. Other than it being raw food for the skin, its not just a product, INDAH RAW is a lifestyle, so people can adapt the R-A-W in their day-to-day life. The ‘R’ stands for Ritual, ‘A’ stands for Aroma (aromatherapy) and it also stands for Ayu (ayurveda) and the ‘W’ stands for Wisdom, this brings you RAW.

What differences did you plan to bring to your new products?

I have designed a new brand and collection that is honest and RAW. I want to educate my customers about skin care, truth in beauty and how to look after your body using ancient traditions of Aromatherapy and Ayurvedic healing. I’m forever evolving and so is the brand, I think I’ve always stayed true to that, but this collection is more of an extension of my personality and lifestyle and I want help people look after themselves so then they can help others.

Would you care to explain to us more about the Dosha – Vata, Pitta and Kapha?

The world we live in is made up of five elements, these are known as Air, Fire, Water, Earth & Space. What is the human body exists in the universe and these are combined in to pairs to form three dynamic forces called Dosha: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. We can use certain plants to alter our body’s proportion of V-P-K. For example if your skin is feeling inflamed, itchy, hot, combination areas, then your skin is in excess of Pitta (fire) so it needs balancing oils to leave it cool and healthy.

What benefits can customers expect from using your Healing Perfume Balms?

They work in harmony with your mind and skin to restore balance therapeutically, rather than inundating the body with artificial perfumes. The amount of times I have walked past a woman who is wearing an unbearable array of overpowering florals it would give anybody a headache – I’m like tone it down, there’s no need to put your biggest organ through so much intolerance. What we’re forgetting is perfumes houses don’t make them like they use to, so I have designed my own perfume collection using pure and rare essential oils that last, yet are good for your physiology.

Your ever-popular Body Butters are back – what ingredients are used in them?

I am so excited about my new butters, I can proudly say they are the pinnacle of the collection because it’s seriously RAW food for thirsty skin. I use my favorite flowers such as Ylang-Ylang and Frangipani, and herbal infusions of Sandalwood and Patchouli. Not to mention Virgin Coconut Oil is the base of every product, it seriously gives your skin a beautiful RAW glow.

What are the products that you use every day?

My favorite is the Dreamland Body Butter, I can’t get enough of it! It’s so powerful that’s all I need to wear on my skin. If I am going on a romantic date I like to wear my Dewi perfume as she brings out the Goddess in me. I like to keep the RAW Asset Balm in my hand bag as its filled with Cajeput (part of the tea-tree family) so it makes for a great antiseptic and 101 balm for my hands, lips, dry patches , etc.

I absolutely adore Coconut Oil which you now have as part of your range – how do you like to use yours and where is it harvested from?

I drive my family and friends a bit crazy with my Virgin Coconut Oil habits. I not only use it every day for general health and well-being but I like to use it as my cooking oil, a makeup remover and hair treatment. It doesn’t have any added fragrances like some other oil treatments and it doesn’t cost a fortune. This VCO is different because its hand pressed using fresh coconut flesh from wild-organic and sustainable fair-trade farms. Every purchase made goes back to supporting the poor villagers in the mountains of East Bali who hand make this amazing product.

Seeing as it is currently Summer time – what products would you recommend for sun-stressed skin?

I highly recommend Sari and Dreamland Body Butters as they’re fortified with soothing aloe vera and seaweed to calm inflammation. They all smell so delicious and they work harmoniously with you mind and body.

Where you can purchase INDAH RAW from?

You can purchase it online at www.indahraw.com or from a select few of organic body care and fair trade stores across Australia.

Thank you Teisha for providing us with knowledge of your new brand!

  1. Love love love coconut oil and all the benefits. Well done Teisha on combining it in your raw products. It’s natural skin care ranges like this which put the chemically laced common brand name skincare companies to shame. Keep up the good work and I hope you expand!
