Aum Anti Age Organics

Aum Anti Age Organics is a relatively new brand that specializes in (you guessed it) natural anti-ageing products. Being in my early 30s I am beginning to feel the tug of time and I have to admit that I am not impervious to the pressure of “youthifying”, though I do try! I approach any product that claims to help turn back the clock with a hefty dose of skepticism.

AUM BRIGHTENING MILK CLEANSER

Packaging

I love about Aum’s packaging is that it doesn’t scream “I am a certified organic product” with papyrus font in green or brown. They’ve taken the high-road and decided that their product is about EFFECTIVENESS, and it just so happens that they are also certified organic. It comes in a recyclable white plastic tube with a flip lid, with simple, classic fonts and minimal colour. It is clean and mature, and could sit comfortably alongside your fancy French boutique brand. It’s designed for a woman. No girly frivolity. No nonsense – I love it. Well, that side of me loves it (the other side likes sunglasses in the shape of love-hearts and Hello Kitty™…but I digress…).

Product

This product is certified organic and is no a simple blend either; it is a complex formulation of hyaluronate, ginseng, fruit AHAs, essential oils, and a plethora of herbal extracts. It is good to note that the herbal extracts (including renowned youthifying herbs gotu kola, kudzu and ginkgo biloba) are high on the list of ingredients, meaning that the amounts present in the product are quite high. There is also rosehip oil, cucumber extract, paw paw enzymes, apricot fruit extract…enough fruit extracts to make a serious AHA fruit punch!

The first thing I noticed was the consistency of the cleanser. It says it is a cleansing milk, but it is much thicker, white cream. Which meant it didn’t run everywhere and it was easy to control the portion. It cleanses quite well and rinses off very easily with no residue. Having skin on the oily side, I generally only use milk cleansers in the morning, but I used this day and night for a week with no breakouts. It would be perfect, day or night, for dry or normal skin, though if you are wearing heavy make-up you may need to double cleanse.

The second thing I noticed was the smell. A lot of natural products smell like essential oils, but this cleansing milk doesn’t smell “essential oily” at all! It smells expensive! Like (dare I say it) an expensive conventional cleanser. Not a whiff of herbally hippy. Yes! Good!

With such great ingredients, it doesn’t take a brain surgeon to notice the difference in my skin. It has been a week, and my skin is definitely brighter and more even-toned. It isn’t a hardcore, harsh brightener, but it is obviously working, and is gentle enough to use twice daily.

Cost / usage

As with most organic products which contain no cheap fillers, a little goes a long way with this cleanser. You only need a 5c blob to do your face and neck, so this tube will last me at least 6 weeks used once a day. It is excellent value for a certified organic, anti-ageing cleanser.

AUM LIFTING FACE SERUM

Packaging

As the milk cleanser, this serum is packaged in a simple, clean, chic bottle (amber to preserve the ingredients), with a white pump dispenser. If you have ever researched packaging you will know how difficult it can be to find the perfect pump! This one deposits just the right amount for your face and neck. It also comes in a recyclable card box, which I thought unnecessary at first, but they need it to print the extensive ingredient list on and it is one of their precious products, so it deserves a little extra packaging!

Product

A lot of natural serums are oils, but this one is a true serum, like a thick liquid. It is a weird brown colour, which was disconcerting at first, but hey, if it works!.. The first thing I noticed was how this serum comforted my skin. It feels very refreshing to pat on after cleansing, and soaks into your skin quickly, leaving it cool and calm. For me (with sensitive skin) I would purchase it for that alone. I only used it for a (very stressful, junk-food-fuelled) week, but during that time the puffiness that is always present around my eyes completely disappeared, which I am certain was the serum’s doing. There are other saggy baggy parts on my face but not really enough sag yet to see any difference. I do recommend it if you are interested in decreasing any facial puffiness. I’m young, but still no spring chicken so will continue using this around my eyes as it totally worked for me.

For the skin care die-hards out there, it is loaded with bio hyaluronate (one of the most hydrating ingredients available), fruit and plant (phyto) enzymes, olive leaf extract, beta glucan and sea lettuce. Yummy yummy.

Cost / usage

One squirt does your entire face and neck. If you do use it for your whole face I wouldn’t say it would last a very long time, as with most serums it comes in a small 30ml bottle (probably to ensure it being used at it’s optimum effectiveness). It is an excellent product for the price and, as an old spring chicken, I think it is perfect for those in their 20’s or 30’s who are beginning to see a little droopiness and dullness to the skin, especially around the eyes.
