Why should I choose natural skincare?
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and we absorb around 70% of what we put on our skin. There are chemicals in skin care products that can cause irritations, disrupt our hormones, are toxic and even carcinogenic.
Certified organic skin care is free from synthetic chemicals. All Planet Eve Organics products are 100% natural and Australian Certified Organic.
What ingredients should I avoid?
I try to I avoid where possible any products with synthetic chemicals but this is easier said than done.
The list is not exhaustive but would include: 1,4-dioxane; sulfates, parabens, phthalates, DEA, TEA, MEA, petroleum by-products (eg mineral oil), synthetic fragrances. Make sure you read the ingredients on the label.
Is there a difference between organic and natural?
Natural products are not necessarily ‘better’ in that the ingredients may have been cultivated using chemicals such as pesticides.
Certification by a reputable certifier is one way for consumers to ensure that the product is free from synthetic chemicals, artificial pesticides, fertilisers, GMO or animal ingredients. Planet Eve Organics products are certified by Australian Certified Organic, one of the strictest certifying bodies in the world.
Be aware that not all certifiers have the same standards.
Is my skin less likely to react to natural ingredients?
An individual may have allergies to certain natural ingredients but it is more likely your skin will react to chemicals found in skin care products.
There are so many “natural” brands out there, how do I decide what’s right for me?
Read the labels and try them out. There are a range of products out there and not all are truly ‘natural and organic’ which is why it’s confusing and potentially misleading for consumers.
You will also find products vary in their quality and performance which hasn’t helped the perception and reputation of natural and organic products when in fact there are some high quality, high performing products on the market.
Do I need to use a toner?
Most skin specialists would recommend using a toner. It helps restore the skin’s PH balance and can help remove any residual product and dirt after cleansing.
I love the way my skin feels after cleansing and you often see the ‘result’ with a toner. Avoid toners with alcohol (and chemicals)
