  2. I am not much of a cook, but my favourite dish in Winter that I ask my wonderful Mum to cook is her amazing Stew & Dumplings…OMG, it’s amazing and I always go back for 2nds…sometimes even 3rds…
    I would love to win these products from Third Stone Botanicals…always wanted to try the brand but never had the money. My fingers are crossed xxx

  4. A spicy hot chilli con carne on a bed of brown rice – warms up my insides better than any other dish!

  5. I cook the best curried sausages. Sausages, potato, pumpkin, carrots, onion, parsnip, turnip, peas, beans, rice, curry powder and celery its so good for you.

  10. Every Sunday in Winter, I do a huge tray of roast vegies, beetroot, carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, capsicum, fennel etc etc etc so that I can have warm roast vegie salads at work all week, I just add a little bit of fetta and I am good to go!!! Sooo delicious

  11. I’m always partial to spaghetti bolognese. I can hide veggies in it for starters. But that’s not all it’s a quick and easy meal to prep and cook serving it with a garlic bread on the side.

  13. My own version of garlic and chilli infused Nasi Goreng, made with pork mince and lots of vegetables. I am not much of a cook but this is so easy and delicious.

  17. Roast winter vegies..pumpkin, Jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, carrots with rosemary & olive oil. Simple & healthy.

  18. A big, fat, carb-loaded, cheesy, garlic-ridden potato bake. Topped with melted, cheese and crispy bacon bits. Winter? I hadn’t noticed, more spuds please!

Homemade Pizza bases from scratch, topped with home made tomato paste, lamb mince, macadamia nuts, parmesan cheese, onion, mixture of herbs, cooked in woodfire pizza oven until the cheese is bubbling. Then slide off the pan and let the base cook till crisp. The flavour combinations are amazing and the wood fire gives it a lovely smoking taste.

  24. Curry! Be it chicken, lamb or beef it’s the ultimate comfort food. It’s easy to prepare using one pot and can be made a day ahead.

  25. My favourite winter dish is roast pork and crackling. I think it’s because my grandmother used to cook it for the 3 (and later 4) generations when I was a little girl. When she passed on my mother served it as her Sunday family lunch, and now I’m doing the same, though admittedly not as frequently!

  26. I really love to cook pasta in winter. It’s hearty and really warms your insides 🙂 I also love to cook my my famous meatballs with either rice, sweet potato mash or a crusty bread to dip in the sauce.

  29. Sorry really can’t use the words ‘cook’ and ‘favourite’ in the same sentence. But I don’t mind a bit of soup in winter – always better when someone else cooks it though!

  30. A hearty roast pork with all the trimmings is great on a cold Winter’s night. Warms up the belly and keeps me cosy for the whole night.

  31. A nice warming curry, especially if I can do it in the slow cooker. Warms you up from the inside on a cold day, and makes the house smell wonderful. Also good for leftovers, so I have to cook less often!

  32. A rich sweet curry is my favourite for winter, lots of tumeric and ginger to help the immune system fight bugs!

  35. Lamb Shank stew, with carrots, kidney beans, tomato, onions, garlic (to keep the flu away), cooked for several hours, piping hot out of the oven, served with rice. So yummy, even the kids love it!

  37. Lamb shank stew – full of vegetables with quineo and red lentils added – I consider it to be our ‘comfort food’.
    It is a satisfying meal and is low GI helping us to stay ‘full’ for longer

  38. In winter I love making silverside in the slow cooker and serving it with creamy mash potatoe; steamed beans and corn on the cob. It is such comforting food and really warms you up. The only problem is that it all tastes so good, that I can’t stop – not great for my hips. (We are having it for dinner tonight actually and the whole house smells devine! I wish I could add the smells to this post…. I would win for sure!)

  39. We eat lots of healthy soups. They are comforting, hearty, and pleases everyone. With some crusty bread, soups are a winner!

  41. My favourite winter dish to cook is my home style potatoe bake, it goes with nearly everything & if kids want a snack while im at work they can just heat some up & i know they are eating healthy instead of sugar filled rubbish.

  43. I am totally, utterly, ridiculously spoiled. I do not cook. Yes, my husband does all the cooking so every meal is my favourite meal. I hear all women groaning but if I was in charge of the kitchen it would be microwave dinners each night, I hate it that much.

    But if I had to choose a meal it would be hubby’s vegetarian lasagne. Fully of eggplant deliciousness with creamy pasta sheets and ricotta cheese. It is to die for.

  45. My favorite dish to cook in winter is Muffin-topped winter beef stew. Comforting, tasty, wholesome and filling. The perfect winter meal.

  46. My famous Spaghetti Bolognaise with a dash of dark chocolate added to the sauce, and when eaten with a glass of good red wine it’s to die for…so fortunately it’s a marriage made in heaven! 🙂

  54. I love Sweet Potato Souffle with Streusel Topping when it’s cold out. And I would love to have the “dry/mature” sample pack if I win, please, as I am 45.

  55. My favourite winter dish is a hearty beef stew cooked in the slow cooker. The slow cooker cooks on low all day and the aromas fill the house and the beef tastes so tasty and tender!

I love cooking thick, hearty soups,they’re a meal in a pot.My favourites are Pea and Ham made with a smoked ham hock and nice and thick and also Minestrone,an old Women’s Weekly recipe with lots of vegetables to which i and some meatballs.Add some warm fresh bread and you’ve got everything you need for a winter warming meal!

  62. My favourite dish in winter is a made from scratch minestrone featuring a number of my home grown vegetables and herbs. It’s warm and soothing and wards off illness!

  63. Lamb and Rhubarb casserole – about 10 ingredients, so easy and uncomplicated to make, wierd combination that tastes SOOOO good.

  70. A hot pot stew. This is where you can put everything in one pot in the morning. Coming home to an absolutely lovely, slowed, cook stew, meat so tender. You will be wanting more.

  71. Creamy rice pudding with chocolate sauce – yep I always head straight for the desserts! Comfort food at its best.

  72. Spinach Rolls which is mince, tomato paste and rice wrapped in spinach leaves – it is healthy and filling and can freeze it so we always make it in bulk to last all winter

  73. My favourite winter dish is always the roast lamb, because I always have enough left for sandwiches or toasties for a couple of days

  74. Kangaroo stew! A rich kangaroo roast slow-cooked for 8 hours, with beetroot, potato, butter beans, and seasoned with rosemary and lemon myrtle. Smells incredible while cooking, and being so hearty it tastes like a guilty pleasure but it’s actually quite lean for such a filling comfort food!
