There is something classy about glass – it feels weighty and substantial in the hands. Lily Loves Pearl [Purify Me] Botanical Facial Cleanser is housed in a frosted bottle with twist-lock pump dispenser. The pump was a bit wobbly and seemed a little fragile, but it did lock, which I prefer as it helps preserve the product.
Lily Loves Pearl’s bottle and the printed carton have a sweet, hand-crafty feel, but in a modern way. They have an air of modern country chic (pretentious? Moi?) No reason at all to hide this one in the cupboard! It is also quite cute that ‘Love” is listed number one in the ingredients…who wouldn’t want some of that?
Product
The cleanser itself is a light yellow gel, and it has a delightful summery, citrussy, light floral scent that is very uplifting and makes you feel quite fresh and clean (which is what we want from a cleanser). I found it to be gentle and very effective. I don’t have overly sensitive skin, but it does contain soothing chamomile and healing calendula, and I can really feel the effects of those two.
Other ingredients include certified organic neroli and rose water (mmm, heavenly) and a touch of jasmine, a smidge of jojoba, some rosehip oil and a smattering of juicy mandarin oil (exfoliating, baby!). Absolutely lovely. More importantly, this cleanser cleans very well without stripping your skin. It isn’t at all drying, and I only needed one wash to clean all make-up from my face.
It doesn’t bubble and foam crazily, rather it becomes a rich, milky lather which feels quite silky on your face. One could say even a teensy bit slimy. But let’s say silky, because that is exactly how this cleanser left my skin after being rinsed off (easily, might I add): silky, soft and fresh. Big bonus points: this product is certified organic, is accredited Cruelty Free, and is also accredited with Safe Cosmetics International. Oh yes, we do love Lily Loves Pearl because they obviously love what they do and have made their cleanser as safe and as ethical as possible for us!
Cost / usage
A little goes a long way with this cleanser – I find one pump sufficient to do an entire face and throat – which is good because it is only a 95ml bottle, rather than your standard 125ml. I have been using it every night for two weeks and am only ¼ through, so providing you use it only once a day you will get about 2 months out of it. Good value for such an efficient, pretty and ethical cleanser!
