Milk. The word conjures up delightful memories and emotions of happiness, comfort, bedtime, baby lambs (as opposed to adult lambs) and puppies with little milk moustaches. Of snuggly cashmere and cuddles. Which is why, when I receive any product with the word “milk” in it, I expect it to be those things. Gentle, soothing and comforting. Is Stem Organics Gentle Cleansing Milk up to par?
Packaging
This cleansing milk is housed in a recyclable brown plastic bottle with a cool little pump-top lid that can be twist-locked. I find that so many natural beauty brands are a fan of the brown bottle, and although it can get a bit tedious, the method behind the madness is that the dark bottle helps to prevent the goodness inside from deteriorating in the sun’s light.
Ok. But there is also something wholesome associated with it as well, and Stem have a lovely, unisex style that is chic, modern and fresh, despite the brown bottle. This product would look good in say, Leonardo DeCaprio’s bathroom. So would I…but that is another fanstasy for another time. Oh, the cheek!
Product
Generally I only use milk cleansers in the morning, but find that during winter this is appropriate for evening cleansing as well, as my skin tends to be drier than it’s normally oily self. Stem Organics Gentle Cleansing Milk is a white-coloured milk with the texture of thickened cream. It smells clean and citrusy, a little like mandarins – a very lovely, fresh experience.
This cleansing milk is based in aloe vera rather than water, which ups the ante in terms of healing ingredients. Organic jojoba, chamomile, Echinacea, Kakadu plum and pomegranate all assist in not only cleansing the skin, but in soothing it, promoting cell renewal, and defending against those dreaded free-radicals. A very potent and dynamic formulation. AND it contains 82% certified organic ingredients!
Stem Organics Gentle Cleansing Milk takes off makeup quite well, and is fine for those who dabble in a little tinted moisturizer and gloss. For those who prefer to pile on the makeup like RuPaul you may need something a little more hardcore, like an axle grinder. Otherwise this cleansing milk is wonderful and effective and, like the milky name says, it is very gentle on your skin, leaving it soft, clean, and feeling very fresh and plump. There was no residue, and absolutely no feeling of dryness or tightness 10 minutes later.
Cost / Usage
At AU$38 for 125ml, Stem Organics Gentle Cleansing Milk is not the cheapest cleanser around, but it is a fair price for the excellent formulation of potent ingredients, with a perfect delivery system and chic packaging. It is one of my favourite milk cleansers, and 100% well deserving of the Holy Grail title so many reviewers give it.
