  1. I love to take fruit kebabs. They’re simple to make, they can be prepared in advance, they are a hit with both the adults and kids, and are healthy! What’s not to love?

  2. Nothing beats a pre-made roll (lettuce on top & bottom to keep it from going soggy!)
    – Tuna and egg mashed with capers, diced gherkins and dill with lettuce & cheese
    – BBQ chicken with fresh coriander, BBQ sauce, lettuce and cheese
    – Smoked salmon, cream cheese, chives, cheese, lettuce and dill

    .. I could go on forever!

  3. I always bring a home made lime custard slice made with my backyard home grown organic limes, homegrown organic free range eggs from my lovely chooks and garnished with my homegrown organic blueberries!

  4. A hit with us is fresh fruit cut up such as watermelon, rockmelon, banana, strawberries, cherries etc to then dip in a dip made up from melted toblerone chocolate which is then mixed with vanilla fruche or vanilla yoghurt and chilled. Yumm!!

  5. I just took my hubby on a romantic picnic to celebrate 30 years of marriage and I made up a beautiful cheese platter crackers fresh fruit and champagne and strawberries of course and it was amazing xxx

  6. The best thing I ever had was a stuffed cob loaf… fresh crunchy cob loaf…cut the top off…pull the insides out…then layer with salami, semi-dried tomatoes, swiss cheese, grilled eggplant, baby spinach, pesto, caramelised onions, 3 olive dip and char-grilled capsicum..

  7. Mini quiches are perfect for a picnic occasion – small and easy to transport, extra tasty and never refused by the children. Varying the ingredients and you can cater for all tastes. My personal favourite is pineapple and sweet corn. Finishing off with some mouthwatering watermelon really hits the spot. And the obligatory slurping just proves how tasty it is.

  8. BBQ chook and fresh rolls. Topped with homemade mayo and accompanied by a glass of bubbles, it provides the perfect picnic lunch.

  9. My favorite dish to bring to picnics is my yummy hubby, he goes nicely with the other dish I’d bring, a fresh organic broccoli and cranberry salad.

  10. I love to take Marshmallow Fruit Salad to picnics.
    It’s easy to put together beforehand,it’s bright,fun and sweet – maybe a little naughty πŸ˜‰
    but hey it’s a picnic and we can enjoy a yummy treat πŸ™‚

  11. My favourite thing to take for a picnic is actually the macro White organic quinoa. I made it with a salad with toasted pumpkin and nuts. So delicious!!!

  12. Definitely the Pig in the House Organic Shiraz with a platter of organic cheeses and olives and then I just can’t not pack in my picnic basket the Five:am Organic Apple Crumble Granola it is so, so, yummy.

  13. Arab spiced rice with mince meat and toasted slivered almonds on top. you gotta make sure everyone leaves with a full stomach πŸ˜‰

  14. My homemade beetroot dip with crackers. It’s so vibrant and pretty that it goes pretty quick at my family events!

  15. My picnics are a no cutlery affair. Plates aren’t even required, just napkins, clean fingers and moist wipes. Saves on basket space, packing up and washing up. So all my picnics are filled with foods that can be picked up and eaten, taken straight off the platter. With this in mind I love taking a variety of mini quiches. I have found the two that are fought over are my smoked salmon and black pepper and my mushroom, black olive and parmesan chees with a hint of tabasco. I do make others, but they are fairly standard for those who prefer less excitement from their quiches. The testament to a good dish is no leftovers….and there are never any mini quiches left and I make plenty !

  16. We take my wife’s chicken coriander meatballs to picnics – they’re delicious cold and are non-messy, which is an important factor when it comes to picnic food!

  17. Muffuletta, a large round loaf (heavy in texture) that’s filled with cold meats, vegetables, cheeses and so on, then wrapped and weighted down in the fridge over night to compact and set. Served cut in thick slices at the picnic, it goes down a treat.

  18. I always bring my popular Mexican dip! It’s layered with refried beans, sour cream, salsa and shredded cheese! It’s eaten with tortilla chips and it’s delicious! Easy to make, easy to eat and everyone loves it!

  20. Miniature passionfruit melting moments – desserts are my specialty! They are comforting in winter yet fruity enough to be enjoyable enough in Summer. Made with organic ingredients of course! Not to mention they look professional and cute.

  21. My social life exists around a combination of the greenest salads – avocado, spinach, feta, lettuce, broccoli, pinenuts, vinaigrette. I can’t stop at one plate rule with Thai Coconut Milk BBQ Chicken.

  22. Sandwich. So the kids can make a wish with the sandwich that presents before the witch, who is played by me. This game always gets me to eat all the sandwiches. LOL!

  23. I’m bringing the roll ups with puff pastry, tomato paste, onion, bacon, mushrooms, ham and melting cheese all rolled up , cut in strips and baked with love.

  24. I always make sure I bring the biggest dish (often sandwiches, really spread out) on the biggest plate – so I can score most of the left-overs! So far nobody has clued onto my cunning plan… yet!

  25. A roasted sweet potato and spinach frittata, a carrot and sultana salad and a bottle of Beaujolais nouveau. A perfect picnic combination.

  27. My homemade Herb & Sweet Chilli Potato Salad is always a big hit at picnics – It’s so delicious and moreish. It’s nice to have a change from the usual potato salad, and I’m sure this is the reason it goes down so well!

  31. I love to bake a nice fresh loaf of Banana bread, it’s nice sliced up hot or cold with butter. A favourite at any picnic

  32. I always bring a Platter of an assortment of cheeses , fruits and crackers, just to snack on whilst preparing to cook a BBQ, the kids love it , and after Lunch a homemade cheesescake πŸ™‚

  33. we grab a chicken at a supermarket somewhere along the way have rolls and salads ready to go, and it’s very easy to put together when we get there I love it fresh chicken rolls YUM

  34. Rare Roast beef and chicken baguettes are my favourite

    200 mlthickened cream
    50 gm (ΒΌ cup) Dijon mustard
    75 gm finely grated parmesan
    2 tbsp olive oil 1small beef fillet (about 1kg), trimmed
    2 sourdough baguettes
    2 cups(loosely packed) wild rocket
    Roast tomato and currant chutney
    1.2 kg large cherry tomatoes
    2 long red chillies
    80 ml(1/3 cup) olive oil
    2 Spanish onions, finely chopped
    2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
    100 ml red wine vinegar
    200 gm light brown sugar
    2 tbsp currants, soaked in warm water until plump, water discarded

    01 For roast tomato and currant chutney, preheat oven to 180C. Scatter tomatoes and chillies on 2 oven trays lined with baking paper, drizzle with 2 tbsp oil and roast until golden (30 minutes). Remove skin and seeds from chillies if desired, finely chop flesh and set aside with tomatoes. Heat remaining olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat, add onion and garlic and stir occasionally until tender (10-12 minutes). Add tomato, chilli, vinegar and sugar, season to taste, reduce heat to low and stir occasionally until thick (45-55 minutes). Season to taste, stir in currants and set aside to cool. Makes 500ml.

    02 Combine cream and mustard in a small saucepan over medium heat, bring to just below the simmer, add parmesan, stir until melted, season to taste and set aside to cool.

    03 Preheat oven to 140C. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over high heat, season beef fillet to taste and cook, turning occasionally, until browned (1-2 minutes each side). Transfer to an oven tray and roast until cooked to your liking (25-30 minutes for medium-rare). Set aside to rest (30 minutes), then thinly slice.

    04 Halve baguettes lengthways and spread bases with chutney. Top with roast beef and rocket, drizzle with mustard cream, season to taste and serve.

  35. Relish and chutneys. No matter what anyone else brings, its the one thing that can be added to just about everything to give it a bit of zing! And if all else fails, chutney sandwich will do in a pinch!

  36. My oats, seeds and pumpkin power balls. Nice homemade icy lemon soda. Chicken, couscous salad and for desert my gluten free brownies mmmmmm always goes down well.

  37. Fresh garden salad including cherry tomatoes, and hard boiled eggs from my free range hens, garnished with fresh herbs – all grown organically by me!
